3DEXPERIENCE World 2025 Congress Emphasises the Generative Economy

Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of SOLIDWORKS, Dassault Systèmes is already talking about a new industrial revolution that, thanks to AI, will be more human-centric.

The 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025 conference is taking place this week in Houston. Once again this year, Silicon has travelled here to present the new developments announced by Dassault Systèmes, which continues to expand its 3DEXPERIENCE platform with more AI-based capabilities, as we discuss below.

Among its main objectives is to democratise the use of these tools so that more professionals can use them in their day-to-day work. It also aims to add more functionalities that make it possible to combine in the same work environment everything necessary during the life cycle of any product we can imagine, from its design and simulation to the management of all the data related to this life cycle and, finally, its manufacture.

This year’s edition is marked by the celebration of the 30th anniversary of SOLIDWORKS, the design and modelling software with which Dassault Systèmes has been building the 3DEXPERIENCE platform over the last decade, closely followed by our publication.

Pascal Daloz, CEO of Dassault Systèmes, and Gian Paolo Bassi, SVP Customer Role Experience at Dassault Systèmes, during the opening session of the 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025 conference.

During the general session opening this year’s congress, Gian Paolo Bassi, SVP Customer Role Experience, Dassault Systèmes, made a statement of intent regarding the anniversary and the evolution of the platform: ‘For us, design is at the heart of everything, but that doesn’t mean it is also at the heart of our customers. They have other concerns that are more important than design itself. And that is why we are working to ensure that design is no longer a bottleneck, something we have achieved with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform’.

3D UNIV+RSES and the coming generative economy

The company has offered details on how generative AI is impacting every personal and professional sphere. It’s been two years since ChatGPT came to us, but the truth is that advances in this area have been brewing for a long time. The difference is that it is now possible to process with great computational power a whole universe of data that was unthinkable until recently, as Bassi pointed out: ‘Technology has shown that if you have enough data and enough computational power, you can get close to something very useful, much more useful than it was in the past.

Dassault Systèmes is now in a position to provide not only tools that make use of generative AI, but also content that can be generated with such algorithms and, not least, to provide knowledge to the community and professionals using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform: ‘The most important thing about AI is that it captures and returns knowledge in a super-efficient way,’ he said.

At the heart of these capabilities is what Dassault Systèmes calls 3D UNIV+RSES, a series of components that complement existing technology and merge it with generative AI to improve the efficiency, capabilities, versatility and customisation of each development.

According to the company, ‘3D UNIV+RSES represents a new class of world representation: more realistic virtual representations that holistically combine modelling, simulation, real-world evidence and AI-generated content. They offer a unique and secure industrial environment for combining and cross-simulating virtual twins and for training multiple AI engines while protecting customers‘ intellectual property’.

At this point it is worth noting that Dassault Systèmes assures that customer data, intellectual property and other critical information will be kept securely stored and used only to train each company’s models: ‘We are committed to doing so with full respect for the intellectual property of the companies we work with‘.

However, the company also admits that certain non-critical data can be shared anonymously to improve the experience of the entire ecosystem, as they have been doing so far, if their customers wish to do so.

One of the components of 3D UNIV+RSES that officials have explained in detail is the figure of the Virtual Companion, an assistant or agent that does not seek to replace humans, but rather to help them in any type of task related to the specialisation of each one of them.

Indeed, these assistants will gradually arrive with a specific specialisation depending on how they are designed and, above all, on the data they have been trained with, coming from the customers themselves: ‘This is one of the main features that differentiates ChatGPT – or any other generative AI engine – from our assistants. Ours are designed to be industrial-grade, efficient, truthful and respectful of our customers‘ intellectual property,’ Bassi added.

These components are part of what the company calls the generative economy, where artificial intelligence will continue to gain prominence over time to help users improve their productivity and work smarter.

According to the executive, these advances are bringing about a new industrial revolution: ‘Industry 5.0, which will be more human-centric’.

We will be providing more details over the next few days on the innovations being showcased by Dassault Systèmes at 3DEXPERIENCE World 2025.
