The DuckDuckGo browser, known for its privacy features, extends its area of action, taking the leap from mobile to desktop.
There is already a beta version of DuckDuckGo for computers with the macOS operating system and, soon, it will be available for the Windows environment. Its creators have also confirmed their interest in bringing the browser to Linux in the future.
However, Mac users interested in trying out DuckDuckGo’s features should queue up and sign up to the list that has been created to manage beta access.
What can they expect? Mostly, protection capabilities by default. Its care for privacy reduces invasive tracking during browsing and boosts speed.
The company that develops DuckDuckGo claim that its product uses approximately 60% less data than other competitors like Chrome.
DuckDuckGo for Mac offers a private search engine, a tracker blocker to limit exposure to third-party scripts, pop-up cookie protection on at least 50% of sites, a data erase button and email-level security.
Built-in Smarter Encryption ensures browsing on the encrypted or HTTPS version of pages. In addition, history, bookmarks and passwords are stored locally on the device by default.
