How Long Before Everyday AI Goes Mainstream?
This technology supports a new way of working and is positioned as ‘the future of workforce productivity’.
Everyday artificial intelligence (AI) and DEX, which is the digital employee experience, are two trends that will shape the business market in the short term, and they will do so by linking together.
According to forecasts from consultancy Gartner, both will reach widespread adoption in less than two years.
‘Everyday AI technology aims to help employees get their work done quickly, thoroughly and confidently,’ notes Adam Preset, vice president analyst at Gartner. ‘It supports a new way of working, where intelligent software acts more like a collaborator than a tool.
He believes that ‘everyday AI will become more sophisticated, moving from services that can, for example, sort and summarise chats and emails to services that can write a report with minimal guidelines. In many ways,’ he says, ’this is the future of workforce productivity.
Everyday AI can find answers and synthesise relevant information. It is a technology that ‘promises to eliminate digital friction, helping employees write, research, collaborate and ideate’, as Gartner Distinguished Analyst Matt Cain notes.
It is also ‘a fundamental part of DEX,’ adds Cain, ‘which is a concentrated effort to eliminate digital friction and improve the digital skills of the workforce, which is itself one of the key drivers of organisational prosperity through 2030.
DEX would also serve to improve employee engagement and therefore attract and retain talent in the digital age.
