HPE Reveals the Future of AI, Hybrid Cloud and Communications Networking

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is holding the European edition of its HPE Discover with a focus on the GreenLake platform and artificial intelligence.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is holding its annual HPE Discover event in Barcelona these days, where it is showcasing the latest end-to-end technology innovations: from edge to cloud and from silicon to services.

Antonio Neri, president and CEO of HPE, gave the first hints of a strategy very focused on artificial intelligence, increasingly present in any area in which the company works and with characteristics that, for the head of the company, are essential: ‘AI must offer privacy, be focused on humans and be inclusive, responsible and robust. HPE is the partner for all of this.

Neri says that HPE is the only company capable of supporting companies in all areas of networking, cloud and AI, but also natively in the latter two fields.

To achieve this, it has made a strong commitment to its HPE GreenLake platform, which is expanding its capabilities to simplify the management of hybrid and complex IT environments, increase business agility and drive innovation. New tools and services showcased during HPE Discover range from virtualisation and storage solutions to advances in artificial intelligence and disconnected management in regulated environments. Here are the key announcements showcased during this year’s event:

HPE VM Essentials (VME): Virtualisation management made simple

HPE has launched VM Essentials, an integrated solution that makes it easier to manage virtual machines (VMs) in hybrid environments. This tool not only streamlines operations with a new KVM-based hypervisor, but also provides a unified experience for managing existing workloads or migrating them to newer platforms.

Key features:

* Reduced costs: Up to five times lower costs compared to traditional solutions thanks to a per-socket pricing model and direct integration with GreenLake.
* Simplified management: A single interface to control virtual machines and clusters, compatible with legacy hypervisors.
* Flexibility and scalability: Delivery options as standalone software or more advanced integrations with Morpheus PlatformOps for comprehensive hybrid cloud management.

HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000: High-Performance Object Storage
The new Alletra Storage MP X10000 solution redefines object storage, enabling enterprises to handle massive amounts of data with unprecedented speed. With the ability to scale to exabyte levels, this technology is ideal for data lakes and applications that require advanced protection.

Key benefits:

* Speed and efficiency: Up to six times faster than other solutions, with support for deduplication that reduces data by up to 20 times.
Broad compatibility: Optimised for integration with standards such as S3 and leading backup solutions such as Commvault and Veeam®.
* Innovation for AI: Joint development with NVIDIA to improve data flow between GPU and system memory, optimising AI applications.
* Disconnected Management: Solutions for Regulated Environments
For organisations operating under strict regulations, HPE has developed management that allows them to operate without an internet connection. New solutions, such as HPE Private Cloud Enterprise Disconnected and HPE Alletra Storage MP Disconnected, ensure data sovereignty and comply with local and regional standards.

Expanding the AI ecosystem

In collaboration with NVIDIA and other partners, HPE is expanding its ecosystem to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence. The Unleash AI programme adds new partners such as Codeium, Contextual.AI and Dataiku, inaugurating advanced applications such as video analytics, AI content generation and secure generative models.

In addition, HPE and Deloitte strengthen their partnership to take enterprise solutions such as C-Suite AI to new levels, highlighting the utility of the private cloud for specific AI use cases.

A platform for the future

With these innovations, HPE GreenLake strengthens its position in the area of hybrid cloud solutions. According to Fidelma Russo, general manager of Hybrid Cloud and CTO of HPE:
‘The true potential of hybrid cloud and AI is only achieved with customised approaches. Our most comprehensive portfolio to date ensures that enterprises can manage their current operations while preparing for the challenges of the future.’

These integrated solutions offer businesses the ability to modernise their technology infrastructure, reduce costs and move into a more efficient and agile digital age.

The vendor has also flexed in the field of high-performance computing (HPC), an area it is leading thanks to the HPE Cray systems architecture, which we will be reporting on soon in Silicon.
