Huawei Powers Europe’s Green and Digital Transition with Smart and Collaborative Solutions
Huawei Connect 2024 in Paris highlights how smart and digital technology will accelerate Europe’s green and digital transition.
Huawei held its flagship CONNECT 2024 event in Paris, where industry leaders, technical experts and Huawei partners gathered to explore how smart and digital technology can accelerate Europe’s dual transition to a green and digital economy.

In the keynote speech, Ken Hu, Huawei’s Rotating President, highlighted the company’s commitment to Europe: ‘Huawei has been working hand-in-hand with our European customers and partners for more than 20 years. We combine our strengths in areas such as networking, cloud, storage and energy, constantly innovating to create greater value for our customers. As always, Huawei is in Europe, for Europe. We look forward to continuing our collaboration to build a greener, smarter future.’
Sustainability and digitalisation initiatives for an inclusive Europe
Huawei also highlighted its TECH4ALL initiative, which promotes digital inclusion. Through partnerships with universities and NGOs across Europe, this initiative has provided digital skills to more than 80,000 people, fostering empowerment and long-term sustainability in the technology industry.
During the gala dinner, Jim Lu, Senior Vice President and President of Huawei’s European Region, presented the first Industry Pioneer Award to partners and customers who have collaborated on joint innovation. Lu stressed the importance of collaboration in the rapidly evolving context of artificial intelligence and industrial intelligence, and reaffirmed Huawei’s commitment to achieve shared success with its partners.
Accelerating digital transformation in Europe
Another highlight was the need for Michael Ma, Huawei’s Corporate Vice President and President of ICT Product Portfolio and Solutions Management, to explain how innovation in information and communications technology (ICT) can accelerate digital transformation in Europe. According to Ma, Huawei is investing in ICT to develop leading products and solutions that enable European enterprises to unleash their creativity and advance their digitisation.
Ma emphasised that digital infrastructure is key to a successful transition. Huawei is committed to supporting this transition through innovative products and by enabling local partners to develop competitive solutions in various sectors. Among the product highlights, Huawei presented innovative solutions in five key areas:
- High-quality 10Gbps CloudCampus for efficient networks.
- Data Centre Network (DCN) solution for disaster recovery.
- The ‘one lake, three pools’ strategy for advanced data management.
- Ultra high-speed data centre interconnection.
- Multi-layer Ransomware Protection (MRP), which combines network and storage for defence against cyber-attacks.
These solutions are designed to meet the needs of sectors such as government, education, healthcare, hospitality, retail, internet service providers and manufacturing. ‘We will focus on innovation in our areas of expertise to help European enterprises digitise,’ said Ma, ’We will work closely with our partners to develop competitive solutions based on specific scenarios and build an advantage in four key areas: profitability, diversification, serviceability and scalability.
Voices of European leaders on green and digital transition
The event also featured several European leaders, who shared their perspectives on Europe’s dual transition. Speakers included Pascal Terrien, Member of the Standardisation Management Board of the International Electrotechnical Commission and Director of Standardisation at EDF Group; Cillian O’Donoghue, Policy Director at Eurelectric; Magdalena Landry, Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe; Daan Boekestein, Chief Technology Officer at Azerion Group; Eric Blazy, Senior Vice President at Orange Business; and Franck Le Moal, Chief Technology Officer at LVMH.
