Lenovo Showcases an AI-enabled PC with Auto Twist Design

The new Lenovo Aura Edition and the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6, ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ and ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 complete its AI offering.

Lenovo is one of the companies betting on computers with artificial intelligence capabilities, known as AI PCs.

At its Lenovo Innovation World 2024 event in Berlin, Lenovo announced innovations in this area that aim to redefine professional computing and people’s own experience.

‘Our latest innovations,’ said Tom Butler, executive director, Commercial Portfolio and Product Management, Smart Devices Group, ’represent a significant step forward in making technology more personalised, productive and secure for our customers.

‘By combining cutting-edge AI technology with more sustainable designs and user-based features, we are not only looking to lead the market, but also to redefine the possibilities in the AI era,’ he says.

Among them is what is still a proof of concept: the Lenovo Auto Twist AI PC, which aims to ‘enhance user interaction through intelligent automation and AI’.

The design of this device is intended to adapt through automatic rotation and dual degrees of freedom to different scenarios.

It allows natural language voice commands to switch between computer and tablet modes or to close the laptop. Its lid closes automatically if the PC is unattended.

And, thanks to artificial intelligence, Lenovo Auto Twist AI PC can track user movements and optimise screen visibility.

In addition, Lenovo has unveiled the Lenovo Aura Edition series, the result of its collaboration with Intel. The flagship model is the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition, which is based on Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors with Intel Arc Xe graphics and integrated NPU.

At just 1kg, it is the lightest ThinkPad X1 Carbon and includes a Haptic TouchPad touch option with three TrackPoint buttons and up to a 14-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate.

Features include a 57-watt battery that lasts for over 18 hours and USB-A, Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI ports.

With a dedicated Copilot key, it will support PC Copilot+ functionality as soon as Microsoft releases it to users.

This Lenovo Aura Edition offers up to six smart modes covering different scenarios. For example, Shield mode gives access to privacy features and runs a VPN automatically in case of connection to a public wireless network.

In Attention mode, the computer reduces distractions with timers and notification muting. In Collaboration mode, it optimises virtual meetings. Smart Share mode helps you transfer images by simply touching the edge of the screen on an iOS or Android smartphone.

Lenovo has also developed the Wellness mode, which is focused on health, and provides postural alerts and reminders to rest.

Finally, Smart Care provides online support tools and a chatbot with the mission of solving problems in real-time.

The releases don’t stop there. Lenovo unveiled the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 and ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ powered by AMD Ryzen,  along with the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 with Snapdragon X Plus processor.

ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 AMD is based on AMD Ryzen AI to ensure AI performance. It takes advantage of the Zen 5 core, Radeon graphics, an integrated AI engine and AMD PRO technology.

It offers up to 6 4GB of dual-channel LPDDR5x RAM, sub-6GHz WiFi 7 and 5G connectivity, redesigned thermal architecture and over 17 hours of battery life in a 1.3kg, 16.9mm chassis.

ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ chooses the 10-core, 20-thread AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor with up to 50 TOPS NPU capability and AMD Radeon 880M graphics.

Other specifications include an 85Whr battery, dedicated keys for AI functions and hardware protection, with integrated security underneath the OS and chip-to-cloud technology.

Meanwhile, the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 with 8-core Snapdragon X Plus platform features an NPU with up to 45 TOPS, 84Whr battery and the same security technology with hardware-enabled features.

‘Our commitment to innovation and collaboration, as demonstrated by our Lenovo Aura Edition series and ThinkBook portfolio,’ remarked Tom Butler, ’ensures that organisations will be able to fully leverage the potential of AI to drive productivity, creativity and meaningful transformation in their industries.’

Add to this the announcement of AI PC Fast Start. This solution aims to accelerate companies’ transition to AI-enabled devices.

Lenovo’s service brings AI-powered consulting to determine the level of technical readiness and ideal PC profile, as well as the power users that can help maximise ROI.
