TOUGHBOOK 40mk2, a Notebook with AI Processing

This version of the TOUGHBOOK 40 includes the Intel AI Boost neural processing unit among its specifications.

Panasonic Connect introduces the TOUGHBOOK 40mk2, a version of the TOUGHBOOK 40 notebook that stands out for its artificial intelligence (AI) processing.

TOUGHBOOK 40mk2 is a rugged device with Windows 11 Pro operating system and 14-inch display that offers AI perimeter processing capabilities. At its core is the Intel Core Ultra 5 135H processor with Intel vPro technology and Intel Arc graphics processing unit. An additional boost is possible with the optional Intel Core Ultra7 165H.

This computer takes advantage of the Intel AI Boost neural processing unit to support mobile workers. Without the need for network connectivity, its AI capabilities help analyse errors, gain insight and complete administrative tasks.

“The first TOUGHBOOK notebook to feature AI processing capabilities is a true transformation for the rugged device market,” said Dirk Weigelt, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Panasonic Connect. “In remote locations, workers no longer need to rely on a secure internet connection to take advantage of the endless possibilities of AI.”

“Recent Panasonic research indicates that computer vision technologies will increase productivity by 42% over the next three years,” he adds, and “field workers now have a future-proof device that doesn’t compromise on capability or connectivity.”

Other features of the TOUGHBOOK 40mk2 include Intel WiFi 7 BE200 specification, with speeds up to 5.8Gbps, optional 4G and 5G connectivity with eSIM support, and a battery that offers up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge.

The battery, storage and RAM are replaceable and the device has four additional expansion areas. IP66-rated for water and dust protection, it is capable of operating in temperatures between -29°C and +63°C.
