Towards $88 Billion for Automotive Semiconductors
That is the figure that IDC forecasts the global market will reach by 2027.
The automotive semiconductor segment is in strong shape. In three years’ time, in 2027, it will be worth more than USD 88 billion.
This is predicted by the consulting firm IDC, which explains that the growth is supported by advanced driver assistance systems, the internet of vehicles and electric cars.
The sector sees demand at the semiconductor level for high-performance computing, graphics processing units, radar chips and laser sensors.
Infineon is the leading company, closely followed by NXP and STMicroelectronics. Last year they had market shares of 13,9 %, 10,8 % and 10,4 % respectively. The top five is rounded out by Texas Instruments with 8,6 % and Renesas Electronics with 6,8 %.
Between them, the five major automotive semiconductor vendors therefore dominate more than half of the market.
